Role OverviewWe are seeking an exceptional Senior Java Software Engineer with deep technical command over JVM architecture, high-concurrency system design, and modern AI engineering. This role is tailored for an experienced backend specialist who operates deep under the hood of the Java ecosystem, engineering highly resilient, low-latency distributed platforms that integrate complex AI capabilities into production-grade systems.Rather than focusing on basic consumer-side API integrations, this position centers on robust backend foundations—including AI harness engineering, automated evaluation frameworks, multi-threaded vector execution pipelines, reactive data streaming, and advanced JVM memory and GC optimization.

Primary Responsibilities· High-Throughput Distributed Architecture: Design, architect, and optimize resilient microservices using Spring Boot and Micronaut, engineered for massive throughput, low latency, and non-blocking I/O.· Concurrency & Parallel Data Pipelines: Build custom multi-threaded processing pipelines, asynchronous execution flows, and parallel batching models for high-volume data ingestion, vector indexing, and real-time AI responses.· JVM Profiling & Low-Level Optimization: Diagnose, profile, and tune JVM execution, garbage collection performance (ZGC, G1GC), thread lock contention, and memory layout (Heap, Metaspace) under heavy production workloads.· Enterprise Java AI Integration: Implement native Java AI frameworks (such as LangChain4j and Spring AI) alongside Vector Databases, creating structured, production-ready integration layers for enterprise applications.· AI Harness Engineering & Test Rig Architecture: Architect robust AI test harnesses, evaluation suites (evals), mock orchestration environments, and automated guardrail pipelines to rigorously test, benchmark, and validate the reliability, performance, and deterministic behavior of AI components.
Technical RequirementsJVM Internals & Performance Engineering· Execution Model & Memory: In-depth knowledge of JVM architecture, memory allocation (Heap, Non-Heap, Metaspace, Stack), and memory layout management.· Garbage Collection Tuning: Proven experience profiling and optimizing low-latency GC collectors, including ZGC, Shenandoah, and G1GC.· Diagnostic & Profiling Tooling: Hands-on mastery of JDK Flight Recorder (JFR), Async-profiler, JProfiler, and VisualVM for thread dump analysis, memory leak detection, and CPU bottleneck profiling.Advanced Concurrency, Parallelism & System Design· Java Concurrency Primitives: Expert command of java.util.concurrent, atomic variables, custom lock-free data structures, custom ThreadPoolExecutors, and CompletableFuture pipelines.· Modern & Reactive Threading Models: Practical experience with Java Virtual Threads (Project Loom) alongside non-blocking reactive frameworks (Project Reactor, WebFlux, or RxJava).· Distributed Messaging & Streaming: Architectural mastery of message brokers (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ) for asynchronous task queues, parallel streaming, and event-driven architecture.· Framework Mastery: Production experience with modern Spring Boot (Spring Cloud, Security) and Micronaut frameworks for lightweight, high-performance microservices.AI Harness Engineering & Java AI Integration· AI Harness Engineering: Demonstrated experience designing execution harnesses, prompt management rigs, mock harness components, and test suites to evaluate AI model outputs, latency, and failure handling in automated pipelines.· Java AI Orchestration: Direct experience building applications using enterprise Java AI frameworks such as LangChain4j or Spring AI.· Vector Databases & Data Stores: Hands-on experience integrating and querying Vector Databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant) alongside traditional relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores.Platform & Observability Standards· DevOps & Cloud Native: Proficiency with Docker containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, and robust CI/CD pipeline automation.· Enterprise Observability: Experience establishing comprehensive telemetric instrumentation with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana across multi-threaded and AI processing services.
Key Qualifications & Background· 5+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise Java environments (Java 21+).· Demonstrated track record of designing, building, and maintaining high-concurrency, low-latency microservice architectures.· Hands-on experience with AI harness engineering, automated model evaluation, and integrating AI frameworks within Java applications.· Deep familiarity with Linux system performance, network socket tuning, and containerized runtime environments.· Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for profiling thread performance, garbage collection, and system-level bottlenecks.
