Maksidin 0.4 ifadəli immunomodulyasiyaedici və interferonindusiyaedici fəallığa malikdir, humoral və hüceyrə immunitetinə stimuləedici təsir göstərir. İnterferon induktoru olmaqla, virus zülallarının tərcüməsini bloklayır. Təbii müqaviməti stimulə edir, immun sisteminin effektor hüceyrələrinin (makrofaqlar, T- və B-limfositlər) fəallığını artırır. Maksidin 0.4 orqanizmə təsir dərəcəsinə görə az təhlükəli maddələrə (GOST 12.1.007-76 görə 4-cü təhlükə sinfi) aiddir, tövsiyə olunan dozalar yerli qıcıqlandırıcı, alergiyaedici, embriontoksik, teratogen və kanserogen təsir göstərmir.
