Engine oils have jumped in price: increases reach 30% — what drivers can do
Imported engine oils have risen sharply again in a short period: as navigator.az reports citing Xəzər TV, prices that had already risen by up to 20% went up by a further 30%. Specialists point to events in the Middle East and difficulties in international shipping. According to expert Aftil Aliyev, the increase affects not only European-origin products but Russian-made oils as well; if the regional situation does not stabilise, further rises cannot be ruled out.

Four practical rules for drivers
- Read the specification, not the brand. The key criteria are the viscosity your manufacturer requires (5W-30, say) and the API/ACEA standard; a cheaper brand meeting the same approval may do the job.
- Beware of counterfeits. When prices rise, so does the risk of fake packaging: check the cap seal, label quality, batch number and the seller's reliability.
- Do the volume maths. A litre inside a four-litre canister is usually cheaper than in one-litre bottles; buy the volume that matches your change interval.
- Compare prices. Look at several listings for the same product; the market prices section shows the range by category.
