Buying a car? Work out the DYP registration fee on Prayk in a minute

After the price, the most common question is: “How much will I pay at the DYP?” Prayk’s new registration fee calculator works out that amount using the tariff from the law — with nothing hidden.

How it works

Enter the engine size from the registration papers — in cm³ (for example, 1598) or in litres (1.6). Then choose the car’s age: under 4 years, 4–10 years or over 10 years. If you pick the production year, the age group is set automatically. The result updates as you type — there is no separate “calculate” button.

The tariff

The fee follows the table of the Law on State Duty in force since 2022. For passenger cars, by engine size:

up to 2,000 cm³ — 0.05 AZN per cm³;
2,001–3,000 cm³ — 100 AZN + 0.10 AZN per cm³ above 2,000;
3,001–4,000 cm³ — 200 AZN + 0.20 AZN per cm³ above 3,000;
4,001–5,000 cm³ — 400 AZN + 0.30 AZN per cm³ above 4,000;
over 5,000 cm³ — a flat 1,500 AZN.

That amount is multiplied by an age coefficient: under 4 years × 1.0, 4–10 years × 0.8, over 10 years × 0.3. So an older car pays 70 per cent less. On top, as needed, come flat fees: a new registration certificate, a new licence plate and technical inspection — 30 AZN each.

Examples

1.6 litres, 3-year-old car: 80 AZN fee + 30 AZN certificate = 110 AZN.
2.5 litres, 2019: 150 × 0.8 = 120 AZN + 30 AZN certificate = 150 AZN.
1,998 cm³, over 10 years old: 99.90 × 0.3 = 29.97 AZN + 30 AZN = 59.97 AZN.
5.5 litres, over 10 years old: 1,500 × 0.3 = 450 AZN + 30 AZN = 480 AZN.

Note: for a 5,000 cm³ engine the fee is 700 AZN, but at 5,001 cm³ it jumps to 1,500 AZN. That is not a mistake — it is how the law is written, and the calculator flags it.

The result shows not just the total but the calculation itself: which step you fall into, the formula, the age coefficient and the fees you selected. Your step is highlighted in the tariff table. Only fees written in the law are included — no unsourced “extra costs”.

Worth knowing

The tariff covers an ordinary sale of a passenger car between individuals. Gifts or sales to close relatives carry a lower fee; motorcycles, trucks and buses have separate flat amounts in the law. For a fully electric car, check the amount with the DYP. The final amount is confirmed by the DYP registration office.
