The currency converter and installing the site as an app: two small everyday tools

This post is about two small tools — both are used daily and neither needs an account.

1. The currency converter

Where: /currency-converter; on wide screens the "Converter" link next to "Currency" in the header row, on narrow screens in the "More" menu; in the mobile app, the "Currency" section.

How it works: the converter uses the official rates of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan for the day — the date is shown at the top. Type an amount, pick the base currency, and the result is computed instantly. With "Add currency" you compare up to 6 currencies at once; type a number into any row and the calculation runs in reverse — for example from manats to dollars. There are quick-amount buttons, "Copy result" and a currency search (by code or name, over 40 currencies).

Popular pairs have their own pages — USD → AZN, EUR → AZN, RUB → AZN, TRY → AZN and the reverse: a ready conversion table (1, 5, 10, 100… units), the rate history for recent days and the trend. Today's rate table itself is still on the Currency page — the two pages differ by the question: "how many manats is 100 dollars" goes to the converter, "what is today's rate" goes to the table.

2. Installing the site as an app

Where: "Install the app" in the mobile menu and the footer; in a desktop browser, the install icon in the address bar or the site's own prompt card.

How it works: Prayk is now an "installable" site. On Android, choose "Install app" in the Chrome menu (⋮); on iPhone, in Safari choose "Share → Add to Home Screen" — the site appears on the home screen with its own icon and opens without browser bars. Long-press the icon and shortcuts appear: Post a listing, Messages, Favourites, Search. When the network drops, an explanatory page shows instead of a blank screen. This is not a separate download — it is the site itself: it takes no space and updates by itself.

On a phone our main recommendation is still the native app — push notifications and camera integration are complete there. The installed site is the closest alternative for computers and for those who do not want to download an app.
