Which carmaker recalls the most: what the study says and how it touches our market

According to a study covering April 2025 to March 2026, Ford recalled around 19.5 million cars worldwide over various faults. Its nearest follower, Toyota, recalled 4.1 million. The material published by navigator.az (citing milli.az) notes that the model-level list is also headed by the Ford group: the Lincoln Aviator carries a recall risk 23.4 times higher than a standard car, the Lincoln Corsair 17.7 times and the Ford Maverick 12.4 times; 12 of the 25 most-recalled models belong to the Ford group. The fewest recalls are recorded by luxury-segment makers.

What a recall does and does not mean

A recall is the manufacturer's duty to fix a defect free of charge — in itself a sign of transparency. The practical question for a buyer is different: was the campaign actually carried out on this car? On the used market that is a documented detail: service history, work done at an official dealer, the campaign number.

The brand picture in our catalogue

The study is global; locally the weight of brands is quite different. As of 12 September 2026 these brands have the most listings in Prayk's Cars section (with their average asking price):

• Mercedes — 3,266 listings, 21,253 AZN on average;
• LADA (VAZ) — 3,064, 6,061 AZN;
• Hyundai — 2,503, 22,512 AZN;
• Kia — 1,745, 22,896 AZN;
• Toyota — 1,503, 26,161 AZN;
• BMW — 1,194, 33,904 AZN.

The study's main subject, Ford, sits ninth here — 812 listings at 18,360 AZN on average — while Lincoln is all but absent with just 9 listings. So the riskiest models on that list are not mainstream in Azerbaijan, though the «check the service history» argument still holds for a Ford buyer.
