Cocktail table rental in Baku: sizes, guest count, prices

Cocktail table rental in Baku: sizes, guest count, prices

For a standing buffet reception (known locally as a «furşet»), the usual choice is a round table 105–110 cm tall and 60–80 cm across: 2–4 people fit comfortably around a 60 cm table, and 4–6 around an 80 cm one. Guests move around, so count tables by how many people stand at them at once rather than by the total guest list — in practice one high table per 7–8 guests is enough. Prayk has almost no ready-made “cocktail table rental” listings yet, so below we cover both purchase prices and what to check when you rent.

Short answer: a standard cocktail table is 105–110 cm high and 60–80 cm in diameter; for 50 guests plan 6–8 high tables plus 2–3 buffet tables for food. As of 22 September 2026, Prayk’s Tables section has 610 listings; the median price of the latest 300 is 133 AZN (half fall between 70 and 230 AZN). A search for «furşet» returns 2 listings, neither of them a table — for rentals, check the Holidays & events and Equipment rental sections (1,760 listings combined).

What is a cocktail table and how is it different from a regular table?

A cocktail table (also called a high-top, «furşet masası» in Azerbaijani, «фуршетный стол» in Russian) is a tall table with a small top where standing guests put down plates and glasses while they talk. A regular dining table is 72–76 cm high and used with chairs. A cocktail table is built close to elbow height — 105–110 cm — so a standing person doesn’t have to bend down.

Events usually combine three types of table:

  • High cocktail table (105–110 cm, round, Ø 60–80 cm) — the spots where guests stand and chat.
  • Low lounge table (72–76 cm) — a seating corner with chairs or a sofa; important for older guests and long events.
  • Buffet table (food line) — usually 180×75 cm rectangular tables placed side by side for dishes, tableware and napkins.

High tables stand either on a cross base or on a heavy round disc. A round metal base is more stable. A cross base is lighter and often folds, which makes transport easy, but it wobbles more on tiles or grass.

How many tables do you need for your guest count?

Use the table below as a practical starting point: one high table per 7–8 guests, one 180 cm buffet table per 20–25 guests, and seating for roughly a quarter of the guests. If the event runs longer than 2 hours or many guests are older, add more seats.

If you can, don’t push the buffet line against a wall — place it so guests can reach it from both sides: with 60–80 guests or more, a one-sided line builds a queue. A separate small table for drinks and desserts also eases the flow.

Size and covers: how to choose the table

Diameter and walkways

A 60 cm table is compact enough for a small hall or a home party and serves 2–4 people. An 80 cm table is the most practical size for 4–6. Leave at least 1.2–1.5 metres between tables so guests and waiters can pass freely.

How do you work out the tablecloth size?

The diameter of a floor-length round tablecloth is: table diameter + 2 × table height. For example, a Ø 80 cm table that is 110 cm tall needs an 80 + 2 × 110 = 300 cm cloth. The alternative is a stretch (spandex) cover that follows the table’s shape: it needs no ironing, doesn’t lift in the wind and neatly covers the base. When buying or renting one, make sure it is made for your exact table diameter and height.

Outdoor events

For a garden or courtyard event, pick tables with a heavy round base. A tall table has a high centre of gravity, and in wind a loose tablecloth acts like a sail — a stretch cover is the safer choice here.

Rent or buy: which makes more sense?

Decide with a simple calculation: purchase price ÷ rental fee per event (including delivery) = the number of events after which buying pays off. If that number is lower than the number of events you hold per year, buying makes sense. Remember to factor in storage space, laundering of tablecloths and transport.

Here is what the purchase side looks like on Prayk: the Tables section has 610 listings; the median price of the latest 300 is 133 AZN, and half fall between 70 and 230 AZN; 63% of these listings are in Baku. There are 14 table listings with «qatlanan» (folding) in the title, priced from 10 AZN (a plastic set) to 259 AZN (a marble-effect top). Genuine high cocktail tables are rare: of the 4 listings with «bar» in the title, only two are high tables suitable for a buffet reception (listed at 30 and 65 AZN), and the Bar stools section has just 2 listings. In other words, the choice of ready-made cocktail tables is small — you will either need to combine offers from several sellers or rent from event service providers.

What should you check when renting?

  • Is the height the same? A batch mixing 105 cm and 115 cm tables makes the room look untidy.
  • Is the base stable? Lean lightly on the edge with your elbow — the table shouldn’t wobble or creak; adjustable feet help on uneven floors.
  • Is the top intact? Even under a cloth, a chipped edge can tear the fabric.
  • Are tablecloths included? Agree on colour, size, washed-and-ironed condition and the number of spares in writing.
  • What does the price include? If delivery, setup, clearing after the event and return transport are charged separately, add them to the budget in advance.
  • Damage terms. The deposit amount and charges for stains and chips should be written down; photograph the tables when you receive them.
  • Timing and access. Plan setup at least 1–2 hours before guests arrive, and tell the rental company the entrance and lift dimensions in advance.

How to find cocktail tables on Prayk

Sellers describe these tables in many ways: «furşet masası», «kokteyl masası», «bar masası», «bar stolu», «фуршетный стол», “high table”. So don’t rely on a single keyword. To buy, browse Tables and the broader Tables and chairs section; for rentals and services, see Holidays & events, Decorations and Equipment rental. The Nearby listings page shows sellers close to you — moving heavy tables across town is expensive. For an overview of prices by section, see the market prices page.

If you are selling or renting out cocktail tables, put the words «furşet masası» (cocktail table) in the title, and list the height, diameter, quantity, whether cloths are included and delivery terms in the text — these are the first questions buyers ask. More tips: how to write a good listing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the standard height of a cocktail table?

A standing cocktail table is usually 105–110 cm high, so guests can put down a plate and glass without bending. Low lounge tables meant for sitting are 72–76 cm, like a regular table.

How many tables do you need for a 50-guest buffet reception?

Plan about 6–8 high round tables (Ø 60–80 cm), 2–3 buffet tables of 180×75 cm for food, and 12–15 seats. If the event is long or many guests are older, add more seats.

What size tablecloth does a cocktail table need?

The diameter of a floor-length round tablecloth equals the table diameter plus twice the table height. For a Ø 80 cm table that is 110 cm tall, that is 300 cm. A stretch (spandex) cover is chosen to fit the exact table size and needs no ironing.

Is it cheaper to rent or buy cocktail tables?

Divide the purchase price by the rental fee per event including delivery: if the result is lower than the number of events you hold per year, buying pays off. For 1–3 events a year renting is usually more convenient; for restaurants and event organisers buying makes more sense. The median price of table listings on Prayk is 133 AZN (22 September 2026).

Are there cocktail table rental listings on Prayk?

As of 22 September 2026, no table listings with «furşet» in the title were found. For rentals, contact decorators and event providers in the Holidays & events and Equipment rental sections (1,760 listings combined); to buy, search the Tables section for «kokteyl», «bar masası» and «qatlanan».

Sources and methodology

Listing counts and prices come from Prayk’s public catalogue on 22 September 2026: the Tables section (610 listings; median and range from the latest 300), title searches in that section for «qatlanan» and «bar», the Bar stools section, the combined Holidays & events and Equipment rental sections (1,760 listings), and a catalogue-wide search for «furşet». Medians and ranges (the middle half of listings, p25–p75) use AZN prices only; no median is given for samples under 15 listings. Table heights, tables per guest and tablecloth sizes are practical planning rules used in event organisation and should be adjusted for the specific venue. Prayk has too few table rental listings to quote rental fees, so none are given.
