Brand price comparison: what the Samsung Galaxy S25 costs in official stores versus the market — Prayk's new page

When a new phone launches there are two prices: the one on the official store's shelf and the one the model actually changes hands for “on the market”, in user listings. Buyers ask “where is it cheaper”, brand representatives ask “what is the market selling our model for”. On Prayk we have put those two numbers side by side on one page: Brand price comparison. The first brand is Samsung: Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra and S25 FE, plus one fridge model as an example; the list will grow.

What is on the page

On the list page every model is a card: the official minimum (the lowest price among official stores), the market median and the gap in percent. Open a card and you get five blocks:

  • Summary cards — official minimum and median, market median, the median of market offers sold as “new”, and the gap (in manats and in percent).
  • Comparison by variant — 128 / 256 / 512 GB are separate rows because official stores price by storage; each row has the official minimum, market median, market “new” median and the gap.
  • By official store — rows are stores, columns are variants: each store's lowest price for that variant; the cheapest store per variant is green, the others show the gap to the cheapest in red.
  • Listing lists — official stores' product rows (per colour) and market offers: title, variant, condition (new / used), price, date seen. A listing that has a copy on Prayk opens directly.
  • History — nightly snapshots show how the official minimum and the market median move day by day. A few weeks after launch you can see where the price has “settled”.

At the top there is a window selector — 7, 14 or 30 days. The window means “offers seen in the last N days”: for a brand-new model 7 days is precise, for a model with few offers 30 days gives a fuller sample.

Where the numbers come from

There are two sides. The official side is the retail catalogues that have a store page on Prayk: Kontakt Home, Baku Electronics, İrşad, Soliton and World Telecom. Their catalogues are imported into Prayk every day, so the price on the page is the store's current shelf price; a product that is out of stock drops out of the catalogue and out of the report. The market side is Prayk users' own listings plus offers collected from public classifieds sites. We described how the collection layer works in a separate post: “Where Prayk's listings come from”. The market side is shown as a single block — the source sites are not named; the offers themselves and their statistics are.

How it is calculated

The hardest part is recognising the same model under different spellings: one store writes “Galaxy S25 (SM-S931B) 12/256 GB”, another “Galaxy S25 12GB/256GB”, a user writes “S25 256 GB” or “S25FE”. The system splits the title at letter–digit boundaries, so all of these land on the same model. A few rules keep the result clean:

  • Sibling models do not mix. When “Galaxy S25” is tracked, “S25 Ultra”, “S25+”, “S25 FE” and “S25 Edge” do not fall into it — each is a separate model.
  • Accessories are excluded. Cases, screen protectors, the S Pen, cables and adapters (by title and by the store's category) are not counted.
  • A price guard. Rows cheaper than a fifth of the official median — a stray accessory or a typo — are treated as outliers and not shown.
  • Variant = storage. The largest GB/TB value in the title is the storage (RAM is always smaller); goods like fridges have no variant.
  • Median, not average. The market price is a median, so a couple of made-up prices cannot shift the result. On the official side the same model is one row per colour and colours cost the same, so the minimum is used for comparison.
  • New and used. When a market listing states its condition, the median of “new” offers is shown separately — for a brand that is the real comparison: what a sealed-box phone sells for on the market.

Example: the Galaxy S25 family, 8 September window

On launch day the numbers looked like this (they change daily; the exact values are on the page):

  • Galaxy S25, 256 GB — official minimum 1,799.99 AZN, the same in four stores; market median about 1,439 AZN, i.e. ≈20% below official. In 128 GB the gap is wider: 1,649.99 AZN official versus ≈1,180 AZN on the market.
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra, 512 GB — that day only one official store had it in stock, at 2,819.99 AZN; the market median was ≈2,040 AZN (≈28% below). The 256 GB variant was absent from official catalogues altogether, while on the market it was the most offered variant.
  • Galaxy S25 FE, 128 GB — 1,319.99 AZN official, only a handful of market offers so far (≈1,099 AZN); a new model reaches the market with a delay.
  • Fridge RT42CG6420 — the same model family at 1,199.99 in one store and 1,599.99 AZN in another: the spread between official stores is visible at a glance too.

Just as important as the numbers is “N” — next to every value you see how many offers it is based on. Read a median built on one or two listings with care.

What a guest sees and what an account unlocks

The page is open to everyone: the summary cards and the variant table are visible without signing in — the answer to “how much officially, how much on the market, what is the gap” is right there. Per-store prices, listing lists and history unlock with a Prayk account; the account is free and takes a minute with a phone number or e-mail. The “Sign in” button on the locked block opens the login window on the same page, and after signing in the blocks unlock by themselves.

Who it is for

Buyers — to see the gap between the official price and the market and decide: are 300–400 manats of difference worth the warranty and the sealed box? The market “new” median is the answer. Sellers — to price a listing right: a little below official, close to the market median. Brands and distributors — to follow day by day how the market reacts after a new model launches; for reports and additional models get in touch.

What comes next

New models and brands will be added — TVs, fridges and laptops alongside phones. Because history accumulates every night, in a few weeks the price dynamics will also appear as a chart. The page: prayk.com/qiymetler/brendler; the other price tools are in the Market prices section.
