The listing form updated: fields by section, searchable selects, icons, auto-saved drafts and a field audit across 24 sections

A user wrote: "I chose Land, and on the second step I got new build / old build and number of rooms". They were right — the real-estate root's fields were inherited by every subsection. That complaint started a full audit of the listing form: 24 sections, hundreds of field bindings, eleven new attributes. The results are below — identical on the site and in the mobile app.
1. Fields by section
Land, garages and offices have no apartment parameters (rooms, floor, renovation). Services and Masters do not ask "New / Used", vacancies have no "Delivery", and "Credit" appears only where it makes sense (as a mortgage in real estate). Construction materials got a "Price unit" (m², tonne, piece…); cars — VIN and number of owners; smartphones and accessories — SIM operator, power-bank capacity; jewellery — material and ring size; kids' goods — shoe size, stroller type, car-seat group; TVs — resolution; vehicles — passenger and load capacity; masters — years of experience. Garden equipment and heating/construction brands got their own lists.
2. Smart defaults
In real estate the operation is "Sale" by default (an empty "Select" made no sense), in Smartphones the brand is taken from the chosen subcategory, "Country of origin" defaults to Azerbaijan — all changeable with one click.
3. Searchable selects and compact multi-select
When a list with ten or more options opens, there is a search box at the top: it filters as you type (ə/ı/ş differences are ignored), and ↑ ↓ and Enter work. Multi-select with more than seven options moved from a long ribbon of chips to a checkbox grid. Options have icons: country and market — a flag, boat / motorcycle / body type — a silhouette, colour — a dot, fuel and gearbox — their own symbol.
4. The form is split into cards
Basics, Photos, Features, Price, Description, Contacts, Location — each card has its own colour and icon; "Features" sits under the category on the first step (a separate step was confusing). If there are no photos, the first step shows a full-width upload area — the small "+" tile went unnoticed. Field icons depend on the code: year — calendar, area — ruler, mileage — speedometer.
5. Drafts and error behaviour
The form is saved in the browser as you type: close the page and come back within 24 hours, and you continue with the message "Your unfinished listing was restored". When the server rejects one field, the other fields are no longer wiped. If the city list fails to load, a "Try again" bar appears — no silent emptiness. After publishing, a confirmation is shown.
6. Tidier filters too
On section pages, filter options with no results moved behind "More" — the list no longer stretches with empty zeros. The Real estate root page has quick pills: Listing type, Price, Location. In real estate the active "Condition" chip reads "New build / Old build", and in Cars the meaningless "Delivery" filter is hidden. Filters like colour and warranty bound to the root category are no longer inherited by every product — they show only in the sections they belong to.
7. The profile menu can finally be found
The mobile menu got an account block for signed-in users: My listings, Messages (with the unread count), Favourites, My profile — previously all of that sat only behind an unlabelled icon in the bottom bar. The desktop profile dropdown got the same list. On mobile the "Post a listing" page now opens straight into the form instead of the profile cover and tabs.
What to do
Open an old listing and look at "Features" — if new fields appeared for your section, fill them in: filters work on exactly those fields, and a filled field makes the listing findable in search. The rules of a good listing: "How to write a good listing".
