Short answer: as of 22 September 2026, the 8 Prayk vacancies seeking a patient caregiver state 450–2,000 AZN a month; caregiver vacancies for elderly people, patients and children (28 listings) have a median of 500 AZN, with half between 400 and 825 AZN. What kind of caregiver do you need?
This is where families most often go wrong: they look for a "nurse" when everyday care is what is needed, or the other way round. Decide together with the patient's doctor.
| Type | What they do | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Caregiver (social care) | Feeding, hygiene, changing bedding, help with moving, walks, light housework, reminders about medication on the doctor's schedule | The condition is stable and a doctor manages treatment |
| Medical worker (nurse) | On a doctor's orders: injections, IV drips, dressings, catheter care | Regular medical procedures are needed at home |
| State home (mobile) social services | Social worker and social care worker: help with cooking, feeding, bathing, cleaning, grocery shopping, utility payments | A lonely older person, an elderly couple, a person with a disability or at the terminal stage of an illness, whose working-age relatives do not live nearby |
This is general information. Which procedures are done at home, and by whom, is for the treating doctor to decide.
How much does a patient caregiver cost?
The figures are a snapshot of the Prayk catalogue on 22 September 2026. In vacancies, the price is the monthly amount offered by the family or employer; in job-seeker listings, it is the amount the candidate asks for.
| Metric | Listings | Median | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vacancies: "patient caregiver" | 8 | — | 450–2,000 AZN |
| Vacancies: all caregivers (elderly, patients, children) | 28 | 500 AZN | middle half 400–825 AZN |
| Job seekers: caregiver candidates | 15 | — | middle half 500–1,000 AZN |
| Job seekers: "xəstə" (patient) in the title | 2 | — | few ready candidates |
| Nannies and caregivers services | 71 | — | mostly childcare |
The wide range is easy to explain: the amount depends on the patient's condition (bedridden, memory problems), night shifts, whether the caregiver lives in, how many days a week they work and any extra housework. There are few ready "patient caregiver" candidates in the catalogue, so families usually have to post their own vacancy to find a good one. State the pay in your listing — candidates filter listings by salary.
Where to find candidates and how to vet them
- Post a vacancy. Create a listing and choose Vacancies — Domestic staff and cleaning. Describe the patient's condition in general terms (for example, "bedridden elderly woman"), the schedule, duties, district and pay. Do not put the diagnosis or address in the listing — discuss those at the interview.
- Look at ready candidates. Caregivers present themselves in Job search — Domestic staff and cleaning and in Nannies and caregivers.
- First phone call. Ask about experience with similar patients, what they will not do and what schedule they can work.
- Documents and references. Check the ID card, get the previous family's phone number and call them yourself. If the candidate mentions medical training, ask to see the diploma.
- Meet next to the patient. How the candidate talks to the patient and lifts them tells you a lot.
- A paid trial day. Work together for a day or two, then decide.
Keep the conversation in Prayk chat: messages asking for payment or card details trigger an automatic warning. We describe the job from the caregiver's side in our guide to elderly caregiver jobs — knowing what candidates look for makes it easier to agree terms.
What should the agreement include?
If you hire through a company or agency, its employee's contract must be concluded in the electronic system under the Labour Code (Articles 7 and 44) — ask the agency about this; the caregiver can check it on the e-Sosial portal. For a direct arrangement, draw up a written agreement in two copies:
- duties and what the caregiver will not do (especially medical procedures);
- working hours, night shifts, days off and who covers;
- pay, payday and pay for trial days;
- how many days' notice is given before ending the arrangement, so the patient is not suddenly left without care;
- for a live-in caregiver, a place to sleep and meals;
- accounting for money for groceries and medicine, and a medication log;
- an emergency plan: the doctor's and relatives' phone numbers, 103.
Quick safety rules
Do not leave valuables and bank cards in plain sight; do not pay an intermediary an upfront "registration fee" without a contract; do not keep the caregiver's ID card "as a deposit"; pay on time, against a receipt or by bank transfer. In the first weeks, it is normal to call once or twice a day to check how things are going.
How much does home care equipment cost?
The home needs preparing as well as the caregiver. As of 22 September 2026, the wheelchairs section has 237 listings; the latest 200 have a median price of 250 AZN, with half between 150 and 500 AZN (electric models sit at the top of the range). In sanitary chairs, the median of 43 listings is 250 AZN, with half between 120 and 425 AZN. If you only need it for a short time, look at medical equipment rental. When buying, check the brakes, the weight limit and whether the chair fits through your doorways.
Who can get the state's home (mobile) social services?
According to the Social Services Agency, Article 19.1 of the Law on Social Services extends home social services to lonely older people, elderly couples, people with disabilities and people at the terminal stage of an illness — provided their working-age relatives do not live in the same administrative unit in Baku, or the same administrative district in other cities and regions. The services are provided by a social worker and a social care worker. You can ask the 142 call centre about the conditions and how to apply.

Sources and methodology
Prayk figures were taken on 22 September 2026 from the catalogue's public API: vacancies with "xəstə baxıcı" (patient caregiver) and "baxıcı" in the title, job-seeker listings with "baxıcı" and "xəstə" in the title, and the Nannies and caregivers, Wheelchairs and Sanitary chairs sections. Medians and the middle half (25th–75th percentiles) were calculated from the latest listings, AZN only and amounts above zero; for samples smaller than 15, no median is given — only the count and the range.
