The Cars section has been rebuilt: make and model search in one row, filters on a single surface

In the second half of September we rebuilt every root section of Prayk. Each section now opens like a dedicated, specialised site: its own header, its own colour, its own menu and only the filters that actually return results there. This post is about the Cars section, which today holds more than 74 thousand active listings.
1. The section opens like a site of its own
At the top of the page sits the section header: a dark indigo panel with the section name, the number of active listings and the trail inside the section (root → category → subcategory). The header is deliberately compact — the first row of listings is visible on opening, with no scrolling needed.
The category chips under the header show the current level: subcategories at the root, an "up" link plus children inside a subcategory, sibling categories on a leaf. When there are more than eight of them, the order follows listing counts rather than the alphabet — the fullest categories come first, and catch-all categories such as "Other" always stay last.
2. Make and model search in one row
The main search row has four fields: Make · Model · Price · Year. Once a make is chosen, the model list contains only that make's models — and it is built from live listings, not from the catalogue. The number of matching listings is shown above the button, so you see the size of the result before pressing "Search".
The "More" button opens the panel: city, fuel type, gearbox, mileage, body type (with silhouettes) and every remaining field of the category schema. There is also a strip of brand logos — 31 popular makes, one tap away from their listings.
3. Filters now match the section
Every section used to show the same toggles, but they did not work everywhere: the result came back empty and the filter looked broken. Each section now has its own set. Cars keep Credit, Discount, New / Used and "Good deals" (a price below the market median), while "Delivery" is gone — passenger cars are not delivered.
The parts and motorcycle subsections follow product logic: "Delivery" is still there, because real listings do carry that attribute. The rule is simple — a filter stays on screen only where it returns results.
4. One filter panel instead of two
Filters used to live in two places — the top panel and the left column. When the same thing sits in two places, it is unclear which one is in charge. There is now a single filter surface: the top panel. The mobile version follows suit — the quick chip row is simpler, and the full set lives in the "All filters" sheet.
5. The site header becomes the section's menu
On a computer the top of the site changes with the section: the section badge and name appear next to the logo, and the second row replaces the general links with the section's categories and tools — Dealers, Market prices and "What should I sell it for?". The general links are not lost; they stay in the "More" panel.
The search box at the top searches inside the section too. On the results page you see a "Cars ×" chip — tapping the cross widens the search to the whole site.
6. A technical line on the card
Car cards now carry a short technical line: "2004 · 2.7 L · 480 000 km" — year, engine size and mileage. The values come from the listing's own attributes, so they appear automatically wherever the listing is filled in. You can compare the key parameters straight from the list, without opening each listing.
7. The mobile app works the same way
All of this was ported to the mobile app: the section header, the search card (make and model fields), the section colour and the section tile in the app header. What you see on the site follows the same logic in the app.
What has not changed
The addresses are the same: /cars and every subcategory open under their old links. Saved filtered links, favourites and anything you shared keep working. Text contrast in dark mode was checked separately — every section colour clears the readability threshold.
To post a listing: the new listing form. What changed in the other sections: Real estate and Products.
