The simplified-tax threshold may rise: what that means for a small seller

A set of tax changes for small business is under discussion in Azerbaijan. As navigator.az reports, the key proposal concerns raising the turnover threshold for the simplified tax: under a rule introduced about 10 years ago the limit is 200,000 manats a year, and current proposals would increase it further.

Other proposals were discussed at a meeting at the State Tax Service: concessions for micro-entrepreneurs, applying VAT to the trade margin for products made from agricultural raw materials and for secondary-market transactions, and improving the practice of freezing bank accounts following desk audits. Service representative Nijat Imanov described a pilot project for processing payments on taxpayers' personal accounts in real time.

How this touches a classifieds seller

Many sellers start with listings and grow into a shop — and that transition is exactly when the tax-regime question arises. A higher threshold widens the window for staying on the simplified regime, so the administrative burden arrives later. Formalising also brings a practical advantage: issuing a receipt, writing down warranty terms and stating the purpose of transfers are trust signals for buyers (see our note on card-to-card transfer limits).

The seller side on Prayk

  • Opening a store is free — the platform hosted 3,735 stores on 12 September 2026, with catalogue, address, opening hours and reviews on one page.
  • «Prayk Wholesale» runs as a separate profile built around minimum batches and wholesale pricing.
  • Plans exist only for promotion; no commission is charged on sales — here is how they work.
