How to sell faster with online listings: 10 strategies that work

Three things sell an online listing quickly: better photos than the section norm, a price in line with the market and fast replies to buyers. Posting on Prayk is free, so the first step is never spending money — paid promotion only pays off once the listing itself is in shape and the item's price justifies it. The 10 strategies below are built on figures measured in the Prayk catalogue.
Short answer: as of 22 September 2026 the Smartphones section on Prayk holds 18,461 listings; the median price of the latest 200 iPhone 13 family listings is 585 AZN (half of them between 499 and 680 AZN). Among the latest 300 Furniture listings only 4% have five or more photos — five good pictures make a listing stand out immediately. Posting is free; a one-off bump costs 0.50 AZN and a TOP package 2 AZN for 7 days.
How many listings are you competing with?
Before picking a strategy, size up the competition. The table shows the number of listings in several popular sections, the price range of recent listings and how many photos sellers usually post. The "median" is the middle of the price range: half of the listings are cheaper, half are more expensive.
| Section | Listings | Median price (middle half) | Median photos | Share with 5+ photos |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Smartphones | 18,461 | 400 AZN (148–1,050) | 3 | 37% |
| iPhone 13 family | 752 | 585 AZN (499–680) | 5 | 56% |
| Furniture | 46,964 | 270 AZN (149–450) | 1 | 4% |
| Cars (whole section) | 72,395 | — | 8 | 73% |
| Real estate | 103,344 | — | 10 | 92% |
The takeaway: a "normal" listing looks different in every section. In furniture, five photos put you ahead of the vast majority; in real estate five photos are just the minimum. We don't quote an overall median for cars and real estate: those lists mix cars with spare parts and sales with rentals, so one number says nothing. The Market prices page gives exact ranges by make and property type.
10 strategies to sell faster
1. Beat the section's photo norm
A listing without photos gets almost no clicks, and Prayk's "Sale chance" score applies its heaviest penalty to exactly that. Post at least 3–4 photos: the whole item, a close-up, the label or serial number and any defect. Shoot your own item in daylight — a catalogue picture from the internet kills trust. Don't hide defects: showing them in a photo costs less than an argument later.
2. Put make, model and the key detail in the title
Search looks at the title. "Urgent sale!!!" says nothing; "iPhone 13, 128 GB, battery 89%" is found by search and answers the buyer's first question. A title that is too short also costs "Sale chance" points.
3. Answer questions in the description and fill in "Features"
How long it has been used, why you're selling, what's included, whether you deliver — write it down and you get fewer idle calls, while the ones that remain come from serious buyers. The listing form has section-specific fields: VIN and number of owners for cars, SIM operator for smartphones, size for children's goods. Filters work on exactly these fields — an empty field means a listing that buyers using that filter never see.
4. Check your price against the market
This step pays off the most. Example: half of the latest 200 iPhone 13 family listings are priced 499–680 AZN. Ask 750 AZN and your listing is dearer than three quarters of the offers — it will get views but few calls. That sample also includes the 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max and 13 mini, so filter for your exact model and storage in the Apple iPhone section.
Cars and real estate are easier: the form shows the market range under the price field, plus how many days similar listings take to close on average, and the "What's it worth?" calculator works out the range by make/model or address. In these two sections, a price at least 10% below the median of similar listings automatically earns a green "Good deal" badge and a place in the "Good deals" filter — extra visibility for free.
5. Pick the right section
Nobody searches for a listing in the wrong section. The form suggests a section using AI; if in doubt, look at where similar listings sit. For example, chargers, cases and smartwatches are searched for not among the phones but in Phones & Gadgets.
6. Time it: the first 48 hours
A new listing you post on Prayk yourself gets a separate slot on the first page of its section for 48 hours — after the paid slots, with no package needed. So publish when you can answer: missing messages in those two days is the costliest mistake. After that, keep the listing alive: one not refreshed for more than 14 days loses "Sale chance" points, while a lower price, new photos or a bump lift it back up.
7. Reply fast
On-site chat works in real time, but only helps if notifications are on. Right after publishing, Prayk offers to switch on browser notifications: "your number was viewed", new messages and comments arrive even with the site closed. In the mobile app the chat is always in your pocket. A concrete reply ("Yes, still for sale; I can show it today after 7 pm") speeds up the deal; enable WhatsApp and buyers can message you there straight from the listing page.
8. Protect your number and meet safely
On Prayk your number is masked on the listing page and only revealed after a "Show number" click — which blocks mass harvesting of numbers and spam calls (how it works). In chat, messages asking for prepayment, a "courier link" or card details are flagged automatically. Three simple rules for sellers: never share the code on the back of your card or a one-time password from your bank; meet in daylight in a busy place; don't hand over the item until you see the money arrive in your banking app.
9. Read your statistics and fix things
The statistics in your account show views for each listing and how many times your number was revealed. Many views but few number reveals usually mean the price is above the market. The Listing Doctor is specific: too few photos, title too short, price X% above the market. The "Sale chance" score (0–100) shows "+N points" next to each weakness — start with the fix that earns the most (how the score works).
10. Buy promotion only when the numbers add up
A paid tool shows your listing to more people but does not guarantee a sale: a poorly photographed, overpriced listing just gets scrolled past by more people. Current prices are on the Pricing page: a one-off bump 0.50 AZN, auto-bump 4 AZN for 7 days, TOP 2 AZN for 7 days, VIP 5 AZN for 7 days (15 AZN for 30 days), Premium 9 AZN for 7 days. Don't forget the free options: a new account's first listing automatically gets 3 days of TOP, and a listing that reaches 500 and 1,000 views is bumped for free as a gift. How the packages differ: TOP, VIP and Premium.
When does promotion pay off?
A practical rule: divide the tool's price by the item's price. If it comes to under 1% and the listing is already in shape, it's worth trying; above 5%, use the free levers first.
| Item (median price) | Tool | Cost / price | Advice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical listing in Goods (39 AZN) | TOP, 2 AZN | 5.1% | Photos and price first; if needed, a 0.50 AZN bump (1.3%) |
| Furniture (270 AZN) | TOP, 2 AZN | 0.7% | Pays off, especially with 5+ photos |
| iPhone 13 family (585 AZN) | VIP, 5 AZN | 0.9% | Good for standing out in a crowded section |
| A car, e.g. 15,000 AZN | Premium, 9 AZN | 0.06% | For expensive items that need to sell fast |
Frequently asked questions
Is posting a listing on Prayk paid?
No. Posting listings, uploading photos and chatting with buyers on Prayk is free, and no commission is taken on sales. Private users have no limit on the number of listings per section. You only pay for optional promotion services.
People view my listing but don't call — why?
Most often it's the price. If your account statistics show many views but few number reveals, compare your price with similar listings: Prayk's Listing Doctor shows by how many percent the price is above the market, and the "Sale chance" score tells you which fix earns the most points.
How many photos should a listing have?
At least 3–4, and ideally more than is usual in your section. As measured on 22 September 2026, five or more photos appear in only 4% of Prayk furniture listings but in 92% of real estate listings — in real estate you need 10 or more photos to stand out.
Does paid promotion guarantee a sale?
No. TOP, VIP, Premium and bumps increase a listing's visibility but guarantee neither a sale nor enquiries. Before paying, fix the photos, title and price; if the tool costs less than 1% of the item's price, it's worth a try.
What should I do once the item is sold?
Stop the listing in your account. Prayk will ask "Was it sold?"; the sale price you enter is never shown anywhere — not on the listing, not on your profile — and is only used to refine market statistics.
Sources and methodology
Catalogue figures were taken from Prayk's public API on 22 September 2026. Listing counts are exact per-section totals; medians and ranges (25th–75th percentile) were calculated from the most recent listings in each section: 300 each for Smartphones, Furniture and Goods, 200 for the iPhone 13 family (search "iphone 13" within Apple iPhone), and 100 each for Cars and Real estate; only AZN prices were used. Photo metrics were counted on the same samples. Service prices come from Prayk's pricing page, feature descriptions from Prayk news (8 rules for a listing that sells fast and others). Prices may change; the 15,000 AZN car is a worked example.
