How to buy cheaper: tracking price drops with 5 tools

The most reliable way to buy what you want for less is not to check the market by hand every day but to set up tools that watch prices for you — once. Prayk has five of them: the price drops feed, "Save search", a notification when a favourite listing gets cheaper, a target price for a specific listing and an alert for a cheaper listing of the same product. As of 27 September 2026, 4,967 listings had a price cut in the last 7 days, and in 1,470 of them the cut exceeded 20%.
Short answer: add a specific listing to your favourites — you'll be notified when its price falls by at least 5%; if you have your own limit, set a target price in the listing's "Check a listing" report. If you haven't picked a listing yet, set up filters (including a maximum price) and press "Save search" — you'll hear about new matching listings. And check the price drops feed every day: on 27 September 2026 it held 726 listings that got cheaper in the last 24 hours.
Which tool tracks what?
The tools don't replace one another: one watches a specific listing, another the whole market, another a product. The table shows when to use which.
| Tool | What it tracks | When it alerts you | Where to set it up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price drops feed | Listings across the whole catalogue that got cheaper in the last 24 hours or 7 days | No notifications — the list refreshes every 10 minutes | The price drops page |
| Save search | New listings matching your filter (section, city, maximum price, etc.) | When a matching new listing appears | Button on the search results page |
| Favourites | The price of a listing you picked | When the price falls by at least 5% | The heart icon on the listing card |
| Target price | A specific listing plus your figure | When the price falls below your limit (once) | The listing page's "Check a listing" report → "Alert me when the price drops" |
| Product alert | Other listings of the same product (for example, the same phone model) | When this product appears cheaper than now | "Alert me when cheaper" on the listing page (where the model is recognised) |
Notifications arrive on the site and, if you allow it, as push notifications in your browser or phone; if you have connected Telegram, there too. You can choose which notifications you want in your account — more: how notifications work.
What's in the price drops feed?
The price drops feed collects listings whose sellers have cut the price: each card shows the old price, the new price and the percentage drop. There are "Last 24 hours" and "Last 7 days" windows plus filters by section and minimum drop. Cuts below 5% (noise) and changes above 60% (usually a typo) are left out. Here is how the feed looked on 27 September 2026:
| Section | Cheaper in the last 7 days | In the last 24 hours | Cut ≥ 20% in 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goods | 3,439 | 440 | 1,145 |
| Cars | 653 | 82 | 165 |
| Real estate | 386 | 102 | 45 |
| Smartphones | 374 | 81 | 49 |
| Animals | 83 | 14 | 46 |
| All sections | 4,967 | 726 | 1,470 |
Among the latest 300 cuts the typical (median) discount was 12.5%, and half of the cuts fell between 7% and 20%. The difference between sections is clear: in Goods roughly a third of the cuts exceed 20%, while in real estate such sharp cuts are rare — sellers there usually give 7–12%. The feed includes both listings posted by sellers themselves and other catalogue listings. We cover what discount is realistic in detail in our haggling guide.
How do you save a search?
- Go to the section you need, for example Smartphones or Cars.
- Set the filters: model, city, condition and, most importantly, the maximum price. Put your budget slightly below the market median.
- Press "Save search" on the results page. Saved searches appear in your account under "Saved searches", where you can also delete them.
- When a new listing matches the filter, you'll get a notification. Good offers often sell within the first hours — react quickly.
More: how saved searches work. If what you want isn't listed at all, you can post a buy request yourself and let sellers find you.
What's the difference between favourites and a target price?
A favourite means "tell me if it gets cheaper": you're notified when the price falls by at least 5% from the price you saw. There is no limit — a 5% cut and a 30% cut both trigger it.
A target price means "tell me if it drops to this figure". Open the "Check a listing" report from the Deal Score line on the listing page, press "Alert me when the price drops" and enter your limit (the field is pre-filled with a figure about 5% below the current price). The limit must be below the current price. The alert fires once: when the price falls below your limit you're notified, and then you can set a new target if you like. One user can keep up to 50 active targets at a time.
A product alert isn't tied to a specific listing: the "Alert me when cheaper" button appears on listing pages where Prayk recognises the model (for example, the same phone model) and tells you when a cheaper listing of the same product appears. It's for buyers who don't mind which seller they buy from, as long as it's cheaper.
Look at the price history too: the "Check a listing" report shows the original price, the current price and how many times it has changed. A seller who has already cut the price several times is usually more willing to deal.
When are prices lower?
For some goods the season matters: when demand is low, sellers give way more easily. The logic is simple — air conditioners and bicycles may be better value in the cold months, heaters and winter tyres in the warm months. With phones, the second-hand supply of older models grows after a new model comes out. This is a general observation, not a guarantee: track the price of your item for a few weeks and compare it with the median for the same model.
Checklist for buying cheaper
- I know the market price: I've looked at the market comparison on the listing page and the "Good deal" badge.
- I've added the listing I like to favourites and, if I have a limit, set a target price.
- If there's no suitable listing yet, I've saved a search with a maximum price.
- Every day or two I check my section in the price drops feed.
- When an alert arrives I reply quickly, but I never send money before seeing the item.
- If a listing is far cheaper than the market, I ask why and check for signs of a scam.
Frequently asked questions
When do I get a notification that a favourite listing got cheaper?
When the price falls by at least 5%. Smaller changes don't trigger notifications, to avoid noise. You need to be logged in to receive them.
Can I say "tell me when this listing drops to 700 AZN"?
Yes. From the listing page, open the "Check a listing" report, press "Alert me when the price drops" and enter 700. The limit must be below the current price; once the alert fires, you can set a new one.
How often is the price drops feed updated?
The list refreshes every 10 minutes. You can choose the "Last 24 hours" or "Last 7 days" window and narrow it by section and minimum percentage drop. Sold or deleted listings drop out of the list.
Is a big price cut always a good opportunity?
No. A 20–30% cut often means the original price was set too high. Compare the new price with the market median — the "Good deal" badge and the market comparison help with that.
Are these tools free?
Yes. You don't need an account to browse the feed; for favourite, saved search and target price notifications you just need to log in.
Sources and methodology
The figures come from the "Price drops" feed of Prayk's public API on 27 September 2026 (last feed refresh at 10:01 Baku time): counts by section for 7 days, 24 hours and with a minimum 20% drop filter; small sections (Services, Jobs, Masters) aren't shown in the table but are included in the total. The median discount is based on the latest 300 cuts: the middle value when cuts are sorted by percentage; the "half" range spans the 25th to 75th percentiles. The feed compares a listing's previous effective price with its current price; cuts smaller than 5%, larger than 60% or under 5 AZN, and listings no longer published, are excluded. The description of the tools (5% notification threshold, one-time target price, 50 active targets, 10-minute refresh) reflects the platform version on 27 September 2026. The section on seasonality is a general observation and was not measured with Prayk data.
